Coda

Although this site focuses on the family history of my father, Merle Colburn, there was also a lot of creativity on my mother Kathryn (Carstens) Colburn's side as well, including numerous musicians both past and present and also my Great Great Grandfather Dr. H.P.A. Carstens (1871-1933) who self-published an
"interesting" medical book which you can read here.

The Natural Sexual Advisor, 1904

The Memorial and Biographical Record and Illustrated Compendium of Biography of Citizens of Columbia, Sauk and Adams Counties, Wisconsin, published in 1901 by G. A. Ogle & Co., Chicago, contains biographical histories of four of my ancestors. Two sons of Noah B. Bacon, my Great Great Great Grandfather the Rev. Joseph Franklin Bacon (mentioned in the writings), and his brother David Noah Bacon, and also my Great Great Grandfather Sherman Colburn and his son, Harvey B. Colburn (brother of my Great Grandfather,
William Henry Colburn). Their biographies can be read here.

Frank Austin Bacon (1866-1885)

Sarah Alzina (Reeves) Douglas (1864-1934), wife of Jeremiah Elmer “Jed” Douglas, was a life-long resident of Adams Co., Wisconsin. During the final decades of her life, she recorded family and neighborhood information in two notebooks. These have been transcribed and edited by her Great Granddaughter, J.T. Elderkin and may be read here.
