Sarah Alzina (Reeves) Douglas (1864-1934), wife of Jeremiah Elmer “Jed” Douglas (the brother of Libbie Amanda Colburn), was a life-long resident of Adams Co., Wisconsin. During the final decades of her life, she recorded family and neighborhood information in two notebooks. One has survived intact while the other has a number of pages torn out. It should be noted that much of this material has not been independently verified and may contain errors.
Items have been arranged in alphabetical order, first by surname and then by given name. In a few instances, a woman was identified only as Mrs. followed by her husband’s given and last name; such entries will be found alphabetized under the husband’s given name. Any additions by the transcriber, including [?] to indicate uncertainly about an item, are enclosed in square brackets. Spelling has not been changed from the original manuscripts except in instances of obvious unintentional errors.
To protect privacy, births after the year 1920 and marriages after 1930 have been deleted. As the notebooks are in very poor condition, photocopies cannot be made available from the originals. It should be noted that, except for the aforementioned items deleted for privacy considerations, the notebooks contain only the information given here (in a less concise format). However, the editor does possess additional ancestral data regarding the Douglas, Reeves, and Oakes families, and may be reached through this site.
